Gel nails in Albuquerque
Gel color, structured gel, hard gel and Gel-X extensions, all done by me in one chair on the Westside. They all cure hard and shiny, but they don’t all do the same job. Here’s how to pick the one your nails actually need.
Four kinds of gel, one chair
Same prep for all of them: cuticle work, filing and shaping before any product goes on. What changes is how much support the gel gives you and how it comes off.
| Gel option | What it is | Price | Typical wear | Removal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gel Manicure | Gel color on your natural nails | $50 | 2 to 3 weeks | Soaks off |
| Structured Gel | Gel built into a supportive apex on your natural nail | $65 | About 4 weeks | Soaks off |
| Hard Gel Overlay | The toughest overlay, for hands that work hard | $65 | 4 to 5 weeks | Filed off |
| Gel-X Extensions | Soft gel full-cover tips for real added length | $75 | About 4 weeks | Soaks off |
Fills for structured gel or hard gel are $68, usually every 4 to 5 weeks.
Which gel is right for your nails?
Start with your natural nails, not the photo you saved. The same design can sit on any of these, so the real question is what your nails need underneath it.
- Your nails are strong and you just want color that doesn’t chip. A plain Gel Manicure. It’s the lightest option and the quickest appointment.
- Your nails bend, peel or snap at the tip. Structured gel. The apex is what holds a thin nail together, and it’s the service I get asked for most.
- You’ve broken a structured set before, or your hands are always busy. Hard gel. It’s the most durable thing I do. Just know it gets filed off rather than soaked.
- You want length you don’t have yet. Gel-X. More on that below.
Still not sure? Book the Structured Gel Manicure. It has the most time in the slot, so I can switch you to something else once I see your nails. There’s a longer breakdown on the manicures page if you’re choosing between the two natural-nail options.
Gel-X nails in Albuquerque
Gel-X is a soft gel tip that covers your whole nail and gets bonded on with gel, so you walk out with the length and shape you picked instead of waiting months to grow it. Almond, coffin, square or squoval, short and cute or long and dramatic.
A full set is $75 and takes about two and a half hours, art included. It lasts about four weeks, and when you’re ready for a change it soaks off, so your natural nails don’t get filed down to get it off. See Gel-X Extensions on the menu.

Gel nail questions
How long do gel nails last?
A Gel Manicure usually lasts 2 to 3 weeks before the grow-out shows. Structured gel and Gel-X both run about 4 weeks, and hard gel 4 to 5 weeks. How fast your nails grow and what your hands do all day move those numbers.
Do gel nails ruin your natural nails?
Gel itself isn’t what thins your nails. The damage almost always comes from peeling or prying a set off, or from rough removal. Book a proper removal, keep up with cuticle oil, and come back for fills on time, and your natural nails stay healthy underneath.
Can I get gel nails if I have product on from another salon?
Yes. Book the service you want and add Gel Removal (from another tech) for $15, so there’s enough time in the appointment to take the old product off safely before the new set goes on.
Which gel nails cost the least in Albuquerque at NailsByAsh?
The Gel Manicure is $50 and is the lowest price on the menu. Structured gel and hard gel are $65, Gel-X Extensions are $75, and fills for structured or hard gel are $68.
